David's Nis Artwork UPDATE! :Oct/2011
David - 26-9-2006 at 08:49 PM

Overlord David! http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/7051/overlorddavid50ek8.jpg

To be honest with you it took me longer to write down all that crap on the page than to draw.

Marionette - 26-9-2006 at 10:17 PM

the profile made me laugh xDD

David - 26-9-2006 at 11:09 PM

Thanks. You might not beable to see it. But his belt buckle says Freak N Overlord

Akutare - 27-9-2006 at 09:27 PM

"Feak N Overlord"

I can see that on every Demon's bumpersticker...

David - 29-9-2006 at 02:22 AM

I'm a sexy freakin overlord. As far as guys go. Heh

Nyanko - 4-3-2007 at 04:36 AM

lol thats cool... i like the sword alot.

David - 4-3-2007 at 04:57 AM

That sword is the original Yoshitsuna, glad you like it. XD

wee man - 4-3-2007 at 09:41 PM

david ive been looking at your work and.....dont ever call it crappy again

David - 4-3-2007 at 09:52 PM

Heh, but I think this one, IS pretty crappy. It's all jaggy with a buncha unconnected lines. And it's slightly mishaped.

wee man - 4-3-2007 at 09:56 PM

well i couldnt do better but seriosly dont say that its bad luck(i think)

David - 5-3-2007 at 02:39 AM

Hmm, I've never heard of it being bad-luck to be a harsh critic of your own art.

Groove Zombie - 5-3-2007 at 02:58 AM

I wouldn't call it crappy at all, mang. Definitely not. And yes, we are always our harshest critic.

The jaggy lines are a by-product of a lack of confidence in your lines. Probably the biggest issue with all of us amature artists out there. I have a lot of issues with that, but it used to be a shit-ton worse. I think that's really the tallest hurdle for any artist to overcome, honestly. And there's a serious level-up in store once one gets over that lack of confidence.

For me, that was always the hardest thing to work on, because you can't sit down and work on it. Oh, anatomy, well you can open up a nude book or take a figure drawing class and get cracking. But confidence in your lines is just... I don't know, you just sort of finally get over putting every mark where you THINK it should be and make a line without worrying where it goes. Once you get there, you start tightening up shit, and art starts taking you places. At least that's the short way I see it. It's more complicated I suppose, but eh. Art doesn't need to be more complicated. :D

Damn... you know, that bit about "not worrying where the line goes" sounds odd. I can't really put it into words, but that's not exactly what I mean. You just sort of KNOW where the line goes, and you don't need to think about it. Yeah, that's better. Heh... whatever. I'm lame and can't puts my thoughts into those word things.

David - 5-3-2007 at 08:11 AM

Well I get jaggy lines because I have low dex. XD So my hands get kinda shakey. The only time I can really do a flawless line is when I draw somthing once and then ink (trace) it again. XD Theres nothing wrong with tracing your own drawing right? It doesn't make you a "tracer" (Chasing Amy.) does it?

Groove Zombie - 5-3-2007 at 08:22 AM

No no no... that's a necessary skill sometimes. Used to do it all the time since pencils screw up inks by sorta shining through them. And I can see that being an issue, the shakey-hands thing.

AND NOW IT'S ALSO TIME FOR ZOMBIE'S FOOT IN HIS MOUTH ROUTINE. Seriously, that whole "lack of linework confidence" thing seems all kinds of worthless and inappropriate now... D:

Taro - 5-3-2007 at 11:19 PM

now exactly what level must you bet to get an attack of "OMGWTFBBQ"? your guys upper body seems more muscular than the regular warriors in Disgaea...i guess 'cause they're mostly chibi-able.....wahoo.

David - 6-3-2007 at 12:17 AM

Well, it's mostly not about level. It's mostly about gear. lol It's just a joke displaying that he has a really high power level.

Don't worry about it Zombie. It's not like it's useless advice. Someone is bound to benefit from your wisdom. Another reason why I trace my art is I like to keep the original sketch in tact too. As further proof I drew something, just in case some yahoo tries to steal something from me and make money off it. Hahaha. Drawings like this one though, don't have sketches. This is why I call it a doodle. Cause when I doodle, I normally like to doodle in pen, cause it's smoother.

Another example of doodle from me is this brief 4 page comic I drew. It was basically a joke on Jezzabelle. Because I have a Phantasy Star Online Version of her as well. And she has muscular shoulders and such from swinging those oversized swords, so several people who have saw that version's picture have said she looks like a man.

The second joke was about her special gun that I created called the "Capitanís deluxe". I drew that entire comic and wrote in all the dialogue in 60 seconds. (I considered it a challenge.) So the drawings are really horrible and the writing is chicken scratch. It's a basic Phantasy Star Online fan-comic with my character as the antagonist and the butt of the joke. Because I liked these 2 generic characters that I designed in the comic so much I was almost tempted to give them their own comic series. But I dunno how much I could handle a series that has Bill & Ted like dialogue. And the comic itself could probably be easily referred to as "Cheech and Chong in space" Yeah, it's all pothead humor and sight gags. And these dudes say dude more than prinny's dood. Even when they aren't referring to anyone specifically. like "Dude that sucks!"

I typed up a single adventure and titled it "Bongzai Adventures" But I never drew out the comic. It's basically a "What would happen if 2 stoned Chowder Heads got a license to pilot a mecha and went on space adventures constantly searching for better buds to smoke."

Groove Zombie - 6-3-2007 at 04:28 AM

DO IT.

RIGHT NOW.

RIGHT.

NOW.

And bah, "wisdom". It's just from getting the same thing told to me so many times by people who were way crazy beyond me in the art department. People from Conceptart.org and the likes. Those guys are nuts.

Can I take it that the concept is already like-able? XD

Sayuma - 6-3-2007 at 10:32 AM

You need to work on your structure of the body a little bit, but you have really great line quality. Polish up on your proportions, but otherwise, it's really good work. If you keep at it, I'd expect you to get much better in a very short period of time. Have you ever taken any formal classes? There's lots of good websites to help improve yourself. Drop me a line on MSN if I'm not busy, and I'll help you find some.

David - 6-3-2007 at 05:38 PM

Nah, I haven't taken any Art classes since high school. And I failed Art class because my Art teacher didn't like my style. She said "Cartoons and Comic book characters are for children!" "You shouldn't draw such tasteless crap." I think she was gunning for me... Cause the best grade I got was a C on a self portrait. Which looked pretty much just like me only with psychidelic color instead of normal human color. She didn't like that eaither. Said I wasted the expensive acrylic paint by solidly coloring my portrait. Anyway, as I said this drawing isn't that great. Even on my other thread in the inner sanctum there is better.

My art teacher said the same thing...."kids get to involved in the japanese style of drawing...i'm concerned about that..." SO WHAT?....although...i'm still in highschool....how many people are not in high school here?....is still pretty cool though david....

200TH POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David - 27-3-2007 at 09:24 PM

This is a NEW drawing, I just did today. And it's contents is a secret.

Theres PNG for the good quality (Fast net users)

And JPG for the pixelated ver (slow net users)

http://img400.imageshack.us/img400/4977/11545357iu4.png

http://img400.imageshack.us/img400/6851/11538770ll3.jpg

I'm not exactly positive what this counts as, so I'll post it in both of my art topics. Hope you enjoy. The drawing took me no more than a couple mins to do, but because I'm not exactly handy with coloring on the computer yet, that took a few hours.

Samurai Demon Sonic - 27-3-2007 at 11:36 PM

^Funny art there David... I wasn't supecting that one... I want to talk more about it but I leave it a secert....

Taro - 28-3-2007 at 12:58 AM

Prinny Mean Bean Machine...Dr. Robotnik has no name that will be used without changing it..............or something...

David - 28-3-2007 at 04:05 AM

Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag now. This pictutre was a random moment of insanity that popped into my mind. But it seems so likely to happen. heh.

tira-chan - 30-3-2007 at 06:54 AM

Why do the links go to the same picture??
I is confused o.o

That's why. There's a very obvious quality difference, since jpgs suck righteously.

David - 30-3-2007 at 08:02 AM

Yeah, the Jpeg ver is nasty. I really hate it. But I had to put up somthing for the people with slow connection so they don't have to wait a million years.

David - 19-5-2007 at 04:04 PM

Greetings people! I know I haven't been as active a member as I use to be in the past but well. With nothing much to talk about I kind of just lurk lately reading other people's stuff.... But todays different you're in for some what of a treat today. I actually DREW something today. It's just a lame pencil sketch so don't expect too much from it but it is Disgaea related.

This drawing is a picture of King Laharl Kricheskoy at around 1755 years old. With a newly designed crown to look more "intimidating" Pants because he grew out of the shorts. And a cape as opposed to his old scarf. Because he's more mature now and you know how much Laharl cares about his image.

He is preforming his Overlord's Wrath! Now he's so freakin powerful he can do it with ease using only 1 hand for it is childs play. 2 hands would be overkill.

WELL, enjoy!

http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o241/Overlord_David/?action=view¤t=Overlords_wrath.png

Groove Zombie - 21-5-2007 at 01:16 AM

Nice, man. I definitely think you're improving. The upper-body is a little funky in a few spots, hand is good, arms are fine, but the left (his right) shoulder's a little awkward in that it looks like the arm is three sections. I think maybe you need to broaden the chest, since the pecks shouldn't go all the way to the edge of his ribcage. He's just a bit skinny in the waist, too, men don't typically slim down that much from the chest down.

Keep up the hard work, though. Definitely heading the right direction.

David - 21-5-2007 at 04:43 AM

Well I am aware of that but I was trying to keep him with the anorexic Disgaea look. You know Starved but ripped. XD It's quite difficult.

And, I drew both arms in 3 sections. lol. most of it seems a bit bigger on the left side to me. ( his left) I like where this sketch is going though. his wings even grew up.

Groove Zombie - 21-5-2007 at 05:14 AM

I think maybe that's your problem? No one can be both? You're trying to go too many directions at once. He's either grown up, but still skinny and only of average bulk, or he's grown up and decided to be a muscle-bound badass. Honestly, think Zetta when you think of what kind of muscle definition he should have. Zetta is fairly lanky, but he still has muscle mass.

The right (his left) arm doesn't so much look like three sections, but rather you just didn't continue the bicep down far enough. I think it's really fine otherwise. But the left (his right) shoulder isn't even a part of his torso. You know you should be able to see the armpit with his arm in the position, but because you put the pectoral so far over you moved the armpit with it. Now it's not connected to the collarbone, neck, etc etc. I could do a quick paintover if you'd like, since I'm not the best at explaining in words what I mean, usually. D:

David - 21-5-2007 at 05:52 AM

Actually his armpit was the line I put on there. X( I just never really drew armpits so I didn't know how to go about it.

Groove Zombie - 21-5-2007 at 06:12 AM

WELL. What I was saying is that REALLY you put the armpit in generally the right place, but you moved the pectoral so far out that the whole shoulder is out of socket. You did good, as you would see the armpit at roughly the same angle. I wasn't saying you did it wrong.

I'll do that paintover maybe, so I can clear up any confusion. I really can't explain stuff well without drawing it myself.

EDIT: Okay, not exactly perfect, since there are things I'm still learning myself, but you get the basic idea. I really tried to stick to your lines as best I could. Pay very little attention to the way I did the abs, since that's just how I draw them, and just look to that little doodle on the side if you want. I don't know, WHATEVER. I only went over the legs because I was shifting things a bit when I thickened up his stomach/hip area, so feel free to disregard that. Anyway, I hope it helps. :D

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y135/FunkRobot/Overlords_wrathPAINTOVER.jpg

Fist is still better than meeee. D:

David - 21-5-2007 at 07:58 AM

My fists tend to only be really decent from that angle. When I do side profiles of them they generally end up alot thicker than I'd like. Hahaha.

tira-chan - 22-5-2007 at 06:53 AM

Looks like you're headin in the right direction~

I like your paint-over/critique, groove. Maybe I'll send my next pic your way for analysis. xD

Groove Zombie - 6-6-2007 at 02:41 AM

HAHA. This is an odd reason to post here randomly, but I thought I'd correct myself. I don't know why I wrote "Pectoral wraps around blah blah..." because that is CLEARLY the deltoid. I was drunk or something, I don't know, but consider that corrected. I guess I was kinda simplifying the whole thing so it was easier to remember, but it was a severe misuse of terminology.

SORRY. D:

David - 22-10-2007 at 04:43 PM

Hey peeps. Because of Groove Zombie's suggestion to draw with a mouse on Zombie Jamboree I have given birth to a horrid pile of shit.

Behold the nasty and tremble!

I really have no idea how to use the forum art thingies. I don't know how to layer... Change the size of my tool. Copy, paste... nothin... All I could do was scribble and color.

LOL I'm a 1337 poster... XD

David - 23-10-2007 at 11:58 AM

Holy hell... it's only been a day and I'm already back with another drawing.

This one came into my head as a joke but it's not really that funny. Introducing The PSZ!

New mouse doodle. It would have been better if I didn't use such fat border lines. I think Etna could appreciate this one.

Have a very merry X-mas eve and X-mas tomarrow everyone.

David - 25-4-2008 at 12:53 AM

Yet another art update that qualifies for both sections. It's kinda not NIS but in a way it kinda is! So I'll put it here in both. Besides, that makes it easyer to find!

Props goes out to anyone who can name the character+Class XD

Thats because it IS the Samurai Pizza cats. =P All as Makai charas.

I also intend to draw an amalgum of characers as Dark Lord Valvolga. (Big CHeese-Micky, Princess-Ophelia, Emperor-Dryzen)

And yes I'm going to color all of them. Because I'm going to make a poster.

David - 29-6-2008 at 07:38 AM

New Drawing. Done on ZOmbie Jamboreehttp://fc02.deviantart.com/fs28/f/2008/180/c/e/Overlord_David_Stress_by_millgiass.png

Here I display Overlord David (Generic Fighter modified.)

He's exausted as am I. Yesterday was a really messed up day. A storm hit and a tree limb sliced my net cable in half. On top of that the sewer's overflowed into my basment AGAIN for the 2nd time in a few months. This time it was knee deep. After being up for over 24hrs. I spend the next 8 Bucketing out the basment & sump-pumping it. It reached high up on my furnace and water heaters I hope they work when they dry out.

Anyway That was 8AM. The cable company told me they'd be there at 8:30AM. So I sat on the porch for two hours waiting. Notta. At 10:30 I called them again from my tenants cell-phone (no internet = no phone for me.) She said it was schedualed for 8:30-12 unlike the woman the night before. So it was about 11:30 when I got off the phone. I waited till 1 called back and was like WTF? Then this other technician told me I wasn't schedualed till the 30th. I was like WTF!? Then had her change it to today. Between 12-7PM. Waited and waited and waited. They finally got there about 6. Fixed it so I'm back. But... When I tried to sleep. i kept waking up immidiately after dozing off. Now Its been about 3 days no sleep and I'm exausted. Overlord David is expressing how I feel, and the background is the story, sorta.

Calamity - 29-6-2008 at 08:30 AM

i like the humor you put in your drawings. its very funny.
i like how you put words instead of numbers for the stats in the first drawing you did. its very amusing.
i look foward to seeing more of your work.

Nice characters there. :] Nice a job.

David - 6-7-2008 at 02:58 PM

Thank you Andy.

Andy - 7-7-2008 at 07:39 AM

No sweat, i know good art when i see it.

David - 7-7-2008 at 12:50 PM

Heh, well, maybe it's decent. but believe me, this forum is chock full of alot of people far beyond my capabilities. Even the Forum Master, Etna is a highly skilled artist.

Calamity - 7-7-2008 at 04:07 PM

really? i did not that. i like to draw myself but i dont know if im skilled. i might post a picture. hopefully it doesnt suck.lol

David - 9-7-2008 at 05:21 AM

It's definently true.

Theres a few artists here I admire particularly well.

Etna, Marionette, Tira-Chan, Groove Zombie... to name a few. They are all great with their own styles.

Etna does some of the most crisp sketches I've ever seen.

Marionette I've seen a pile of good colored drawings always well defined.

Tira does some good sketching & finish work.

And Groove he's probably one of the more unique artists I've ever met. <_< Its strange but good.

David - 1-11-2008 at 03:06 AM

Netherworld Wanderer - 6-11-2008 at 04:27 AM

Ouch, poor Almaz. >_<

I can believe that pic, though. I watched a friend play through that stage. Marona tore him a new one, and he just barely managed to survive.

I showed him this pic, and he burst out laughing, saying he could relate.

My problem was that I only had 1 guy who was a high enough level to take her. Mao. But with a chain-gang bang from those ghosts even he wasn't enough. On top of that I wanted to rob her of her putty stick. Then I come to find out she comes with it equip! I was like WTF... -_-; Oh well having my thief be this high level helps anyway. I was getting tired of not being able to steal anything. However... I have yet to see anything REALLY worth stealing. Royal orbs have been my best theft items. o_O

Leveling... it's going extremely slow now. I don't wanna get my guys TOO high... Cause I wanna do class-world with them. Almaz needs some new moves. lol I'll steal them from David.

But DAMN, I need to get some staticians! Btw, what the hell is a Mentor? I have one but I dunno what it does. On top of that it's not listed in the strategy guide. Is that what they mean by "teacher"?

Netherworld Wanderer - 7-11-2008 at 03:23 PM

Mentors increase skill EXP gain, and Teachers randomly raise the power of a Specialist by 5%.

Exactly the same as it was in Disgaea 2.

David - 7-11-2008 at 10:34 PM

I never had a mentor in Disgaea 2.

Yet another Oekaki for Zombie Jamboree.
Everyone was all gender swapping on characters, so I gender swapped the big boss, Baal.

BL, you've never played La Pucelle, Phantom Brave, or Makai Kingdom? You're really missing out on some fun.

Baal appears in all three of those, and in two of them, he's playable.

I never find that stuff in my store! Akh :(, I also Still wanna search time to play them all! I'm being haunted by My homework and my Exam! LOL! :D

Yeah, but .......
An Answer to my Question? Baal is a mushroom, in What games?

Btw, I just Realized that Almaz in Disgaea 3 and Ash in Phantom Brave are the same!?
And, David......., You're really creative and artistic! I just wanna Have same blood like you, lol!

BL, I know what you mean about trying to find them. It took me a long time to find them as well.

About Baal, he was a mushroom in Phantom Brave and Disgaea 3. In PB, he was playable after you beat him.

He also was a Eringa in La Pucelle, but only after he was beaten a few more times.

And yes, Ash and Almaz do look similar.

Eringer(Mushroom) Baal and Disgaea Baal only exsisted in the PAL version of La Pucelle.

But yeah, first time he was a shroom in America was Phantom Brave. And he was pathetic. The one I drew was Disgaea 3 version. Not so Pathetic there. In fact he's quite deadly.

Yeah and Ash and Almaz look the same, but they aren't.

Oh by the way thanks for the compliment BL. But there is alot of art talent in this forum greater than mine.

Etna does some good shit, Groove does some cool stuff and it's fresh and original looking. And Charmwitch is really good. All of them are better than me in many aspects.

So much scarier than chuckie.

David - 1-5-2009 at 08:37 PM

The title of this drawing is "Unrepentant" Which I represented by leaving out his fanny pack.

David - 31-10-2009 at 01:39 PM

He's back and birder than ever! Baal returns in Happy Halloween TWO.

This is a sequel to the first one so he's suppose to say "f*ck You Dood!" But I ran out of space and didnt wanna cover the art.

This is in honor of Halloween AND Prinny 2, so Baal is in his Prinny form dressed up as the hero for Halloween.

Cranilla - 1-11-2009 at 12:51 AM

That looks kinda cool...What do you think the second prinny game will be, anyway...?

David - 1-11-2009 at 08:15 AM

Not sure. But after playing the first one theres a really high chance it'll be awesomesauce.

Cranilla - 2-11-2009 at 05:48 PM

I hope we'll get to run into Prinny Laharl again or better, even PLAY him?:D

David - 3-11-2009 at 04:26 AM

I doubt it. But maybe. I assume there will be a whole new veriety of challenges for our Prinny friends.

From the story it seems like the normal ending has become cannon. Because Etna pretty much explains that she's workin Laharl harder than normal so he can reincarnate faster.

Which would ALSO fit in the timeline. Basicly she'd bust his ass and he'd be humanoid before Disgaea 2.

It could totally work out knowing Etna.

Cranilla - 3-11-2009 at 07:11 AM

Poor Laharl, having to do so much work...Anyways, I can't wait. When do you think It'll come out, or when they're showing the full title?

David - 3-11-2009 at 10:18 PM

I dunno. Giving Etna a massage wouldn't be such a bad job. But I'm sure Laharl despises it.

David - 8-11-2009 at 01:31 AM
