Okay, So I might be the only one here, but. . .

Aiite, so am I the only one here that really didn't care too much about leveling? I mean yes it's what makes Disgaea...Disgaea, but in all honesty I was more enthralled with the story and how it progressed, worrying more about finishing the episodes than getting level OVER 9000 for everything. Ok, I'm done.

I think there's no question that people love Disgaea's story. Becomming a mega bad ass is just for bragging rights really. And pushing the game to its limit. Getting the most replay value out of it for the dollars you spent.

I actually never powerleveled to the extent others have, either. I never maxed out any of the characters stats or any of that. I basically got my main group to the point where they could beat things with relative ease and called it good.

I think the issue is that the story is over relatively quickly, and then all there is to do in the game is level and make a crazy badass that can kill anything in one hit. The story is good, yes, but once you've gone through it 3 or more times, many people just need something else to do.

In my opinion you should level up to a high level IF you want to do all the side quest.Leveling is boring too so whatever you want really.

It's just that some people have an inferiority complex. And when they play these games, if they play for a long amount of time and make characters that are more than rediculously strong. They may feel as if they have accomplished something. Dispite the fact that its just a game and meant to do nothing but occupy bored time.

Which is okay. I'm cool with that. My friend though isn't satisfied unless he's so vastly over powered over everything in EVERY game he plays though. Not just Disgaea. But because of work and stuff, he tends to accomplish this through means of code breaker. Which kinda spoils all the surprises for me because then I see with my own eyes the limits. >_> Which makes it kinda pointless for me to carry on for longer.

Disgaea 2 got only a fraction of play time compaired to Disgaea 1. Which is surprising since theres suppose to be more to do. But I've done almost everything except the Baal Pirates/Prinny Baal Pirates. And the ultamate Prinny Baal with 4x power. I must say though, LOC item world is quite insane and I don't think I'd ever have the guts to go from lv 1-100 in LOC item world.

Also known as: getting one's monies worth

In terms of price to hours of gameplay, Disgaea has to be one of my best purchases

Must point ut that uber leveling isnt necessary and the game is still an amazing experience without having to do such

Disgaea is definantly my best money/time ratio. Seeing as how I have so much time invested in a game I got for 25$. Other games I've spent almost as much time on I had to pay twice as much for.

It isn't so much leveling, it's achieving.

Do you want the ultimate ronin class or rather go straight unlocking the angels?

Want to challenge through the prinny world, alternate netherworld, cave of ordeals?

Or like items: buying, selling, powering up, using specialists, combining them...

Disgaea is all about choice and achieving your own goals in the end.

I found the main game to be enough, it's about 40-50 hours, a normal amount of time for any rpg.
The first few of the post game maps are also not that hard, you probably won't need to grind at all.
But then comes CoO3 for which you have to grind like mad, if you want to have a 10 man team that can beat it (together), you need to grind like 50 lvls each.
That's where the game starts to get fairly boring because all ways to achieve this are extremely time consuming, taking you at least 10 hours.
I never did it, but judging from the small amount of maps that come afterwards, it's just one huge grind session over a handful maps.
Between switching to a new one you need to grind several hours on the previous ones or pass 20 weaker enemy bills (which will also take several hours).
So, I also did hardly more than the main game.
I'm starting again and will try to at least pass CoO3 this time, but I don't know if I will really beat Prinny Baal.

Games become a lot less fun for me when I play the hell out of them in one go. As such, I haven't been concerned with reaching high levels. Maybe if I'm bored or stuck with nothing to do someday, but I doubt I'll ever really want to grind into the thousands of levels.

In my opinion you should level up so you can defeat Baal and Item God 2 in Disgaea 2.
