How Hard is This Game?

Okay, how would you rate the difficulty of beating the game? I'm asking because I hear it's got over 100 hours of gameplay, and I get bored with some long games, especially when they get hard. (Like Final Fantasy Tactics. Took me forever to beat, and then the ending confused me.)

Any answers would be appreciated.

I wouldn't say it's hard at all as long as you properly equip your people and have some sort of strategy going it. It's a pretty straight forward game if you ask me where you only have to go out of your way to clear all the extra stuff which in all honesty is where the heart of the game is if you ask me.

100(0)+ hours of gameplay are optional. You can clear the game and you can either leave it alone or play longer for fun to unlock everything, defeat optional enemies, etc.
About the difficulty...in Disgaea: Hour of darkness, the beginning is not that hard if you know what are you doing. Tactical games are meant to be challenging. Use the enviroment to help yourself, stack enemies in good spot, etc.
Near the end, game seems to be impossible to beat if you are pretty underleveled and with weak equipment.

....and as Tanya says in the game "You can still beat the game with minimal knowledge".

It's easy. Like real easy. Especially if you're the type who over levels. (Which I don't because I hate breezing through it.) But it's slightly ajustable as you can pass stronger enemy bills. If you feel the game isn't hard enough you can kick it up a notch.

Unfortunately enemies don't get things like transmigration and uber equipment. So in the end it's still pretty damn easy.

Well.. for me..
The main story: Easy... very easy to me.. cause lvl-ing up your character is so easy in Disgaea.
The Side Quest: Not that hard, just need a large amount of patience, cause you need to leveling your character and item like crazy, finding the right legendary items, level it up, search for specialist, etc to complete all the side quest..

I find It's easy to just beat the game excluding the side quest!

If you include the sidequest, it's absolutely hard!
I took 128 hours and hasn't defeated Laharl LVL 1000!

Hour of Darkness isn't hard at all, in the beginning you can easily breeze through the game until about chapter 12. thats when the game steps up (assuming your not insanely overleveled) even then if you have good gears and a few good characters its nothing big. For the main storyline you can easily beat the game with laharl and 3 or 4 more people to just back him up.

The game truly shines after you finish the main story though, because you have to grind levels like mad to fight to do the sidequest and to get "good" equipment. something you usually wont do in the first cycle of the game.

Cursed Memories has a acceptable difficulty curve, though it suffers like the first game as the main game wont actually feel like its getting harder until the later chapters, but it happens earlier in the game. I do praise NIS for doing something about relying on the main character too much though. Sure Adell can run through pretty much the first 9 chapters of the game. but unless you've went overboard and overleveled, long story short, you "shouldnt" be able to run through the game with a handful of characters in your first cycle.

i haven't played the third game but i hear it steps up the game pretty early <3.

Overall Disgaea is pretty fun, even when your grinding hours away to beat a stage. Its not execptionally hard, but its not too easy to leave you disapointed. Theres always something you can do in this game and its not tedious The characters are interesting, and the plots are good enough to keep you into the story. Aside from that, i can't really tell what makes this game so fun. there's just too much stuff you can do so it gives different people different reasons so you have to find your own reason to love the game.

but in short if you've never played the game but assuming you've watched a shitload of videos, you just need to learn the most important aspects of the game and basic tatics strats.
(so when you fight mid boss for the first time in hour of darkness, please god......dont mindlessly send in your characters expecting to clear the stage like you did every other stage. you'll get massacred.):D

Its not that hard....If you have a good strategy.
The bonus stages are hard to beat though:swt:

About the difficulty... in Disgaea 2 it pretty easy to finish the story but to defeat Baal and unlock Land of Carnage is really really hard. It takes hark work and never ending leveling up to finish Disgaea 2. Even me I got 100(0)+ hours of gameplay in Disgaea 2 but it would take forever to finish the entire game.

This really depends. If you make too many characters, and have terrible equipment, it's hard to manage everything. But if you keep the amount of characters you have at a time under control, it's easy. Trust me on this. However, grinding is involved. And is not hard.
